Ask any woman what bothers her most about her body and 99.9% of the time you can guarantee that the answer will involve cellulite.
There I’ve said it…cellulite!
It’s that lumpy, orange-peel or cottage-cheese looking area of skin that is resident on the upper thighs and buttocks of most women. It’s the one thing guaranteed to have accounted for large amounts of money to be spent on creams, special clothing and gym memberships over the years, in a vain attempt to banish it for good.
So, if you’re looking (desperately) for a solution, then I urge you to read on and learn more about the Accent Ultra combined ultrasound and radiofrequency treatment for cellulite.
There’s a myth that cellulite is related to just being overweight. There is a grain of truth in that, as being overweight can sometimes make cellulite stand out more, but hormones and genetics can also have an effect on how it looks.
So, it’s false to assume that it’s all weight related as even slim, fit women can suffer from the curse of cellulite; in fact, it’s reckoned that somewhere between 85% and 98% of women have it. So you’re not alone.
This is because it’s all down to the way that woman store fat and the shape and structure of their fat cells – which also explains why men rarely suffer from cellulite.
From a medical point of view what is happening is that subcutaneous fat, i.e. fat cells underneath the skin, starts to herniate or push through the overlaying fibrous connective tissue that is found in the female pelvic region (the thighs, buttocks, abdomen etc.). This action of the fat pushing up through the tissue shows as a lumpy, dimply or pitted appearance on the skin, which we all stereotypically recognise as cellulite.
But all is not lost, at Hilton Skin Clinics in Reading, we have the latest device to address the unsightly appearance of cellulite, it’s called the Accent Ultra made by Alma Lasers.
The Accent Ultra is an advanced device that allows us to effectively target and reduce cellulite. It uses two state-of-the-art technologies of ultrasound and radiofrequency for safe and non-invasive body contouring treatment. It is designed to target just the fat cells and will not harm surrounding tissue.
The ultrasound energy is delivered deep into the tissue to target fat by disrupting or breaking the outer membrane of the fat cells which triggers the release of the fat stored within. This is then metabolised safely by the body. The Accent Ultra also includes radiofrequency which we can then use to assist with the lymphatic drainage which expels the released fat content, as well as tissue tightening of the connective tissue in the buttocks and thighs to smooth and reshape the area.
Treatment normally takes between three quarters of an hour to an hour and a half per session, depending on the size of the area being treated.
To get the optimum results from this treatment for cellulite reduction, we normally recommend a course of 4 to 8 treatment sessions, which are performed once every week to 14 days.
